In Germany, the freedom to care has existed since 1873 and the profession of Heilpraktiker (health practitioner) has been recognized since 1939; even if no specific training is required, an examination of basic medical knowledge is required as well as registration in the professional register[2]. In addition, both homeopathic and anthroposophical medicines are included in the national pharmacopoeia (with a specific commission created in 1978 on which representatives of the discipline concerned sit).
