Grade 1

Shoden

Shoden is a set of introductory courses in reiki, with a module on charlatanism and the sectarian aberrations that abound in reiki. This level of study is designed to provide learners with the knowledge they need to advise and guide anyone wishing to learn reiki, as well as to advise anyone who believes they have fallen victim to a reiki practitioner. Learners practise relaxation and meditation on themselves. At the end of the year, students receive a certificate of completion printed by the International Association of Reiki professionals.

Grade 3 ou Shinpi Den

Oku Den or Okuden (grade 2) and Shinpi Den (grade 3) are levels of study that follow each other in such a way that the learner has the knowledge to practise relaxation and well-being reiki on others. They can work in their own practice or in a beauty and/or aesthetics institute, or any structure offering a well-being service. At the end of their 3rd degree, students complete a dissertation demonstrating their maturity and knowledge on a subject chosen in agreement with their tutor and dealing with reiki in the context of relaxation. At the end of the year, the student receives a certificate from the International Association of Reiki Professionals confirming that he or she has successfully completed the course. The student receives the title of Relaxation Reiki Master Practitioner. (The word "Master" in Japanese simply means that the learner possesses certain knowledge, in the same way that teachers in 20th century Europe held the title of Master).

The learner learns new subjects so that he or she has the knowledge to practise reiki in a way that complements conventional medicine. They can work in their own practices, in hospitals or clinics in various departments or operating theatres, or in international health organisations. At the end of this degree, students complete a dissertation demonstrating their maturity and knowledge on a subject chosen in agreement with their tutor and dealing with reiki in the context of medicine. At the end of the year, the student receives a certificate from the International Association of Reiki Professionals confirming that he or she has successfully completed the course. The learner receives the title of Master Practitioner of Iryoureiki or Therapeutic Reiki.
